Families are invited to a flutter-tastic Spring Equinox celebration at the Monarch Haven & Reading Sanctuary at Red Mountain Library! Kids can enjoy hands-on activities or make Sonoran Desert native wildflower seed bombs with the M.O.R.E. (Mesa Outdoor Recreation Experience) mobile unit. St. Vincent de Paul's Urban Farm program will be giving away milkweed seeds grown from their farm. Chat with city landscape experts, Master Gardeners, the SciStarter Ambassador, and other exhibitors about plants, trees, and sustainable gardening. Don’t miss your chance to win cool prizes. It’s a nature-filled morning of fun for the whole family!
The spring equinox marks the official start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, occurring when the sun crosses the equator. In Mesa, this celestial event happens on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 7:46 p.m.
This program supports the City of Mesa’s Climate Action Plan (MCAP), a Mayor and Council priority initiative to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, build resilience in our community, and address the negative outcomes of a changing climate.
