Program Description

Event Details

Are you ready to replace your grass and water-thirsty plants with a Xeriscape? This approach creates a beautiful and practical landscape that reduces water usage, provides cooling shade, and is much easier to maintain.

City of Mesa staff will present information about Mesa’s Grass-to-Xeriscape Landscape Program, which now offers up to $1,100 for qualifying conversions. Following this, our favorite AZ Plant Lady, Noelle Johnson, will discuss options for grass removal and design concepts for new landscapes. Noelle is the author of two recent books: Dry Climate Gardening: Growing Beautiful, Sustainable Gardens in Low-Water Conditions and The Water-Smart Garden: Techniques and Strategies for Conserving, Capturing, and Efficiently Using Water in Today’s Climate… and Tomorrow’s. Books will be available for purchase at the presentation.

All attendees will have a chance to win one of Noelle’s books and a $50 gift card to a local nursery.

This program supports the City of Mesa’s Climate Action Plan (MCAP), a Mayor and Council priority initiative to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, build resilience in our community, and address the negative outcomes of a changing climate.
