Are people asking you “what’s up?” and you find yourself answering “my water bill”? Maybe it’s time to get rid of the grass or water-thirsty plants and replace them with a Xeriscape, which creates a beautiful, commonsense landscape that reduces water use, and provides cooling shade with a bonus of being much easier to maintain. Once the grass is removed and the site is ready for landscaping, it should be just right for fall planting.
Join us for this program where we’ll provide all the information needed to transition your yard. City of Mesa staff will outline Mesa’s new Grass-to-Xeriscape program that now offers up to $1,100 for a qualifying conversion. Then our favorite AZ Plant Lady, Noelle Johnson, will talk about grass removal options and design concepts to consider for the new landscape. AZ Plant Lady will also be selling her new book, and a raffle at the end of the program will include two $50 gift cards to local nurseries!
This program supports the City of Mesa’s Climate Action Plan (MCAP), a Mayor and Council priority initiative to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, build resilience in our community, and address the negative outcomes of a changing climate.
