Local Author Judith Redline Coopey will talk about her book called Redfield Farm: A Novel of the Underground Railroad and the narrative behind sacrifice for a principle and taking action in support of one's beliefs. The main characters are a Quaker family involved with the Underground Railroad, accepting responsibility for helping runaway slaves on their way to Canada.  Ann Redfield, the protagonist, helps her brother, Jesse, move the fugitives from their home, a station on the railroad, to whichever station is next, feeding, clothing or nursing as needed. Their activities, always done in strict secret, arouse suspicion among their neighbors and lead to complications for them and their charges. Their dedication to the cause relates to current world situations and can serve as an inspiration for people today.
